So There's Only One Sport Now

Andy Murray's US Open match is consigned to the red button. Sky have FOUR sports channels not including SSN, paid for a grand slam, and are relegating Andy Murray's match to interactive / red button only because of bloody European qualifiers.

It's live football on SS1, SS2, SS3 and SS4.

On Sky Sports News Gillette Soccer Special.

I disliked the obsession with that game before today, I now genuinely despise it.

Just me?

Nope, not just you, but as I don't subscribe to any sports channels it pretty much washes over me anyway :D

I wouldn't usually but they're part of VIP.

Not amused, buying exclusivity over a section of the US Open and relegating the British #1 / World #4 to interactive extracts the urine.

Sky's strategy is to own the rights to try to force fans to subscribe. I don't imagine for one moment they're driven by any sort of vision for delivering comprehensive, balanced coverage of a wide range of sports.

Muwahaha! Football rules all!

I imagine Sky are motivated by the fact that football is their bread and butter, it's the driving force being their subscriptions, and this weekend there is no football so they cramming so much in while they can.

Simple - campaign for a GB team instead of the 4 home nations and you're done :D
