Channel 6 Local TV on Freeview - More detail

Attached is the official Ofcom list of available local TV locations on Freeview; allocated transmitters and interleaved UHF channels. Most of the allocations fall within the existing aerial groups or just outside, so existing aerials can be utilised. Some areas where a main station and a relay are used will utilise a Single Frequency Network.

All the areas are set up around conveniently existing TV transmitter sites. This is fine where everything comes from a main transmitter, but may not be so convenient where a service comes solely from an existing relay transmitter. Aerial installers usually favour using a main transmitter rather than a relay, and people wanting to receive the service in this situation may have to install an additional aerial. This is compounded at locations like Luton, where the allocated relay only carries the PSB multiplexes.
