Virgin Media / Sky Movies Parental Control Issue
Hi,
Have just had a long and heated discussion with Virgin about my parental control settings. Basically I have two young lads 10 + 7, who quite like watching movies ( The under 12 ones of course ), but have come across a problem that my box is asking for a pin number to watch "U" and "PG" rated movies. The box is set for standard viewing i.e. pin required for 12 rated before 8pm etc. Phoned Virgin and basically they told me that a pin is required to watch any movie at any time on "Sky Movie" Channels (401- 407) and could do nothing about it. Well, that didn`t go down too well as I have a dsabled wife and I am at work all day and it is an inconvienience for her having to follow the boys around all day to put a pin in to watch a "U" rated movie. Am I being told the truth or am I missing something on the box settings? Anyone have the same problem. Please help. |
Re: Virgin Media / Sky Movies Parental Control Issue
This is a ruling that has been imposed by Ofcom on any movie "channel" that wants to show 12 or 15 rated movies outside the watershed. If VM want to carry the channel they have to obey the ruling irrespective of what rating each individual movie has.
