Zero jitter

Just wondering how many users here get zero jitter at peak times?

here is my result.

I believe the graphs are live/dynamically generated so it will be todays graph.

I would say that you're probably wasting your time asking about zero jitter on VM. It's not going to be the most common thing though I'm sure the usual suspects will be doing their utmost to try and get a zero jitter test done, even if it takes 10 or more attempts. :)

I'm fresh from a doubling of bandwidth upgrade for the area earlier in the week.

Not bad, mine's been relatively good lately, but this is still about as good as it gets...

The day I see 0ms jitter on VM will probably the same day everyone's abandoned them for fibre.

They are no more fibre than DSL, my mobile phone or the wifi at work is fibre.

The Network that Virgin run on is fibre optic FTTC.

Pass me the popcorn someone.

Not surprised you've low jitter Chris, after your history with VM they probably gave you your own node :p:

Saying that I did have very low jitter myself at one point, I was on an upstream with only 13 other modems. Sometimes thanks to geography and other reasons people can be sharing bandwidth with very few other people as you evidently are.

It's to be enjoyed, as I noted on my first post it's pretty rare on VM due both to their subscribing guidelines and the nature of the technology.

FTTN, not C, in the case of VM though this is another thread in itself.

The ASA and Ofcom allow them to call it fibre optic which is the main thing, as it makes the UK's broadband situation seem better than it is. This may change in the future as genuine fibre optic services become more commonplace. A cable operator in the USA for example claimed their service was fibre optic and were told to stop advertising as such after Verizon, who run the fibre to the home FiOS service, complained.

And the C is further away than the fibre to my ADSL exchange, and not to mention my 3G phone and wifi is also FTTC. Well actually my wifi is FTTB which makes it more fibre than VM. By your logic my speakers are also fibre as is my kettle.

Just because it's ultimately connected to fibre somewhere in some far away land, doesn't make the local loop fibre. Everything's connected to fibre eventually.

Please explain how your kettle is ever, even remotely fiberoptic? Its purely electric and you can't send electric over fiberoptic?

Re: Zero jitter

There's a fibre connection to ethernet switch next to the machine controlling the electric distribution board.

Or in other words the kettle is connected to something that is connected to something else that is connected to a fibre. So it's as much fibre as your VM connection is connected to something that is connected to something else that is connected to a fibre.
