noisy hard drive

Why does the hard drive decide to become active every half hour or so? Is there a way to stop this or is it trying to do something which I can stop. The reason is i have had tivo installed and moved the v+ to my bedroom. Now it keeps waking me up when it decides wake up lol

Yes l had a noisy V+ in the bedroom and it seemed to be active especially through the night so l decide to get another tivo and thankfully things are much quieter so my advice is to get a baby tivo if you can afford it .:)

Good advice Den;) I had to do that as the wife switched the V+ off every night as she couldn't stand the light or the noise. Baby TiVo dosnt make a sound.

Re: noisy hard drive

Hard drive on the V+ usually fires up once an hour at about 20 mins past the hour day and night. It also fires up on the hour every 6 hours or so (which I assume is the EPG refresh). Occasionally it seems to get stuck in a loop and starts firing up every 10 mins. If it gets annoying I just take the V+ out of standby for a minute or so and then put it back, and it reverts back to its normal behavior.
