do virgin supply firmware updates?

hi

My wife has galaxy ace from virgin for about a month now. Samsung are rolling out gingerbread 2.3.3 for the ace and 3 networks update is coming this week.

Do virgin get the same updates? Or am I going to have to update by non official means?

It will update once Virgin Mobile release it onto the network and not before.

It is usually a few weeks behind but setup to work with the Virgin Mobile software, I have to wait to update my N8 the same as you do.

Whilst I understand your worried but rooting android phones is easy and the chances of you bricking it are silm to non, although the actual 2.3 from a provider is sometimes better than a custom rom as you don't always get same features.

Samsung phones are nearly impossible to brick.
If the flashing of a ROM fails, just use ODIN (the program used to flash it) to go back to stock.

I used to own a Samsung Firmware website back in the day when Samsung hardly updated their phones conveniently - then they brought out Kies so closed down :)
