Connecting PVR-800 to Telewest cable box

PVR-800: http://www.sigmatek-players.com/pvr...ge=tech&lang=en

I've tried the following setup:

The cable line goes into the cable box (the only place it can input)
Cable box scart output -----scart----- PVR scart input
PVR scart output -----scart ------ TV scart input

When I can for channels it doesn't find any - not signal input. I have also tried this:

The cable line goes into the cable box (the only place it can input)
Cable box RF output (marked TV) -----RF cable----- PVR RF input
PVR scart output -----scart ------ TV scart input

Still no channels found. The cable box is plugged in and powered up and when connected directly to the TV via scart I get channels no problem. I have checked the PVR input mode and it has been set correctly for each setup above.

Can anyone help??

Does the DVDR have an aerial type socket on the back. Sounds like it is scanning for channels on that which would require

Cable > Cable box> Coax > currently TV being changed to
Cable > Cable box> Coax > DVDR > TV

Your DVR should have an option to record from the AV source which would be what you are looking for.

Re: Connecting PVR-800 to Telewest cable box

Thats what I've already got. Ideally I'd like it setup by scart. Here's the setup WITHOUT the DVDR:

Cable point on wall > telewest pace cable box > scart lead > tv

If I am adding the DVDR to that it should become:

Cable point on wall > telewest pace cable box > scart lead > dvdr > scart lead > tv

The DVDR has two scarts, telewest box the same and the TV one. With the second setup above that would surely mean the signals and being brought into the cable box from the cable line, then being output to the dvdr's scart input. I have the DVDR set to scan the AV2 input which is the scart according to the manual. It should then scan for channels on the scart input (av2) and output the results via the scart output which goes to the tv.

I'm sure I've got it right and I've been assured by the DVDr company that it is compatible with cable boxes aswell as sky.

Yes, the DVDR box does not need to scan for channels on the scart as there is only one channel on the scart, you need to find the setting on the DVDR box that selects the source as AV not Coax.

There is a menu option for choosing AV2 input, which is meant to be the scart. However when you go to view the input it just says 'No signal found' which is why I tried scanning to see if it needed to find anything - this is a menu option, not a default. The DVDr is supposed to store a channel list itself - or is this only for a terestrial tv arial going directly into the RF socket? Even so, when I view the input I should be getting a signal of somekind - which means it still isn't coming through.

I've emailed the manufacturer so will what they say. Something's not right.

AV2 and AV1 are the right way around?
The storing of channel info will only be applicable for coax broadcast, not SCART.

Well, in despairation I powered off everything disconnected the cable box from the cable line and reconnected it again. Powered everything back up and wahey - getting cable channels correctly now! No idea what was the fault, but it wasn't the setup - glad cos it was driving me crazy.
