Is this possible - VM Mobile - sell & use SIM?
Hello everyone :)
Forgive me if I'm being stupid here - I'm quite new to how mobile accounts work... I'm an XL landline user - and recently received notification that if I took on a VM Mobile - they would deduct the £8.00 I pay per month for this - and instead pay £7.32 (in the case of the Blackberry Curve 8250) with a free handset on a 24 month contract. So does that mean in fact I would get the handset free - and the call plan - and save 68p  Further - could I sell the handset if I didn't want it - and use the SIM in another phone which was unlocked? Am I missing something here :erm: Thanks! |

I had a contract with Orange for a Samsung Jet, hated it. I then bought a phone off eBay (Galaxy S) that was unlocked, inserted my SIM and today I am still using the Galaxy S with no problems. Instead of selling the phone I gave it to my dad instead. Your contract in the end pays for the phone anyway, so Virgin Mobile would not be unhappy with such happenings. |

I've never looked heavily into it, but I would imagine the handset is written in as remaining property of the telephony provider til the end of the contract period, and could be asked for back should, as I said the contract go into arrears etc. |

OK either it's me - or this is very misleading...
In actual fact they DON'T deduct the £8 / month you pay for phone XL as advertised - they actually deduct £8 off the monthly cost for the phone plan. So you still pay £8 / month for Phone XL and £7.32 in the case of the Blackberry. Very naughty VM  I had to phone them to confirm this was the case. |
Re: Is this possible - VM Mobile - sell & use SIM?
Well this explains the mobile offer I got from a virgin sales call. I got offered a sim only deal on a rolling 30 day contract for 600 mins and unlimited texts for £7.32 a month. This was £8 less that the special offer on the virgin website. I see now that they have reduced the price of the sim by the £8 I am paying for my xl phone. I suppose its quite a good way to tying me into staying on the xl plan.

In the end I had to go to the CEO office, and they explained that the offer was genuine but as yet IT had not figured out a way to take this £8 off the mobile bill automatically to get around this they gave me all the £8's in one credit, in my case £64 for the remaining 8 months of the contract, I had got the other 4 £8 by ringing CS up each month Don't know if it's fixed now but you would have thought IT would have been involved before they started ringing folk to make the offer  |
