Only Half UK to get 100mb
Virgin Media today lauded its 100MB/s broadband service, which is now connectable to 6.5m homes - a quarter of the UK's total, it claimed.

I dont know Virgins actual on-net penetration but i would guess that the 13 million homes covered once the rollout is complete, pretty much covers all cabled areas.
Obviously its not going to be available to the whole uk as the whole of the uk isnt cabled. If the figures are correct then i'd say its a case of El Reg twisting the facts slightly to get a good headline. Someone with more knowledge on the cabled area's will prob come along and either confirm my theory or blow it out of the water lol. Phil |

i dont know if they mean only half of the cabled areas in the UK will get it tho.

unless they have decided in some areas that it wouldnt be cost effective to do the needed updates at this time to the network. In Some areas a lot of upgrade work is needed.

100Mb is going to all cabled areas. Cabled. Never been any different as far as I'm aware.
