hi

i did somthin similar but i dropped mine down the toilet, yeah i know dont ask lol

well i took the back and battery off, left it for 2 days to dry out, and he presto it worked, place the phone batt side down on a towell so all the water drips out, but dont try to dry it with a hairdryer or place on radiator as u'll fry the phone

if u have phone insurance u can get it replaced, but u still have to pay the excess on the policy

ahh damn, i tried using a hair dryer but used cold air instead so hopefully i didn't fry it. i just tried the rice trick i heard about. hopefully that makes it work

i don't have phone insurance :/ as like an idiot, i thought my phone would never break. Look what happened to it now haha

One simple question.

Do you think that Virgin Mobile are liable for your action in breaking this phone?

The answer, of course, is no and hence it is your responsibility to replace the phone, either out of your own pocket or via any insurance cover you may have.

Put it in a bowl of rice and then somewhere warm like an airing cupboard.
The rice should absorb the moisture.

had it in rice most of night. phone is back on but is acting weird, e.g. the buttons are pressing by itself, some buttons don't work. might try the rice trick again later, if not then i'll have to phone up VM

its good news that it goes on, but u should wait until its dried out fully

the wierd things the buttons are doin is because its not dried out yet

give it a couple of days and it should be ok

Now is a good time to get insurance, its only around a fiver a month. WSait 2 months then report your accidental damage.:)

biggest cause of death with water damage is the battery, take it out, leave it out until you're sure the things dry. water & electricity do bad things to phones...

back again,

so i left my BB in rice for a few nights, when i first got the phone out the rice it was doing random things, so left in another bowl of rice for another night, then some buttons wouldn't work so i carried on using the BB with limited buttons...

slowly but surely the buttons what didn't work were starting to come back alive now and then. and today all the buttons have started to work properly. am just glad i didn't lose my contacts and blackberry messenger contacts. thanks to everyone for helpful advice
