OCZ Agility 3 Sandforce 60gb - Possible problems?
1 Attachment(s)
I've been having some odd problems with my new setup including unexplained occasional bluescreens and IAStor errors along with hangs in my Windows Event log which I originally attributed to a driver fault but now I'm not so sure. Decided to download something to check the S.M.A.R.T status with and I'm a bit concerned about the error rate...
Attachment 22381 Having never experienced this weirdness and never paid a lot of mind to SMART before, can anyone enlighten me whether this SSD is looking faulty? I have tried it on another port on the same Intel SATA controller. Cheers! |

Raw read error rate on HDTUNE is always stupid numbers like that, always had huge numbers like that for disks when ive used it in the past
---------- Post added at 16:06 ---------- Previous post was at 16:06 ---------- p.s. pain thing you should be worrying about is the fact its 138*c LOL |
Re: OCZ Agility 3 Sandforce 60gb - Possible problems?
It has no temp sensor :)

Most RAW SMART values are manufacturer proprietary and can be safely ignored, unless you have access to proprietary manufacturer information and can deduce what they actually mean. The only one that is of concern is unexpected power loss count of 18, which would certainly cause bluescreens or crashes if the drive goes into emergency shutdown mode.
The SMART readings say nothing about the temperature of the drive being 138'C. SMART works on a normalized value and a threshold, that's all. A value of 100 is "normal" for all readings. It doesn't mean 100'c or 100% errors. Not seen any bugs or faults with the Agility 3 mentioned around my parts so it doesn't seem a widespread issue, though I haven't been keeping up with SSDs much lately. Do you ever write down the bluescreen error codes? What version of the Intel drivers are you running? |

I moved the drive onto the Marvell Yukon controller with exactly the same symptoms...

Hmm. Faulty drive? What firmware version do you have on it?

OK with the advice of Scan, and also eventually found this on the OCZ website
1. If you are experiencing issues with BSOD in Windows, use OCZ Toolbox v2.38-209 to upgrade the firmware in your SSD to v2.09. I have done said upgrade, fingers crossed :) |
