York council admits fence own goal.

This made me laugh :)

Council bosses have admitted scoring an "own goal" after a fence was built through the middle of football goalposts in a park in York.

You have a singular wit. :)

I'd say them goal posts were/are coming down anyway to make way for the new fittings.

Do not forget that they will have to re-line the edge of the pitch or it will be a funny shape as well:confused:

But good joke and you beat me to it:D

I just feel for the one's playing on the other side of the fence:confused: It would be no good for corners to the near post:erm:

I can't believe the contractors actually went ahead and did this.

Didn't any of them think 'This can't be right'?

Typical attitude; I'm paid to do what I'm told, not to think...

There should be a penalty for this kind of thing.

I blame de manager. It looks like he lined defence up wrongly. I hope he doesn't take offence. :)

What's the betting that this fence was built after May 8th, when most goal posts in parks around the country are taken down, after the season finishes and someone put them back, to make a point? ;)

They take goal posts down in parks up till May 8th?

when do they put them back up, and why do they take them down?

Many councils take the goal posts down to allow for the bare goal mouth area to be reseeded or re-turfed. Not necessarily on May 8th though:erm:
