Tivo default resolution

I'm getting Tivo tomorrow :). When I did my self install of a V+ box, I had a problem because my Plasma monitor will not display 576i which the V+ box defaulted to. Had to plug in another TV to change the settings to 1080. I wont be in myself when the engineer calls and am just wondering if the Tivo shares this issue? Anyone know?

TiVo auto-detects your tv's resolution

It defaulted to 576i via HDMI with mine and not 720p/1080p

But your tv could output that resolution, the OP's tv can't display 576i from what they are saying.

It auto-detected 1080i on my tv.

Exactly, thanks for the help. My tv strictly speaking is a monitor and will not take a 576i signal on its DVI input (I use a DVI to HDMI cable to connect the virgin box). Sounds like the Tivo does not have the same issue the V+ box did which makes things more straight forward.

Quick, Quick, get a tape measure please and measure your Tivo before you install! I've been trying to get the exact size of the Tivo to check if it will fit in place of my V+ box.
The really critical measurement would be the width .....
Thanks in advance.

@ muppetman11

Thanks for the quick reply. I knew I would get an answer on this forum ;)

It looks like the Tivo is smaller all round, so it should fit in the Media Cabinet.
Cheers.

DVI does not carry audio/sound so how is the engineer going to fix it up?

I had same on my old TV and connected sound via phono sockets on V+ and the TV

but Tivo doesn't have phono sockets either

The way I piped the sound was to plug Scart>Phono adaptor into the Tivo and then run phono leads to the TV

He could use Optical Audio.

If his monitor doesn't support digital audio I cant see it supporting optical

Nah! It will be analogue phono via scart
