Adding a password to router
Hi, I bought a dlink router a little while back and connected it to my PC ready for when I buy a tablet PC, although I still used the wired connection for my main PC.
Now I have an ipad2 and it is picking up the dlink wireless signal fine, but I've never been prompted for a password or code so presumably it's open to others. Is there something I need to do on the ipad so that it becomes a secure wireless network? Thanks. |
Re: Adding a password to router
You need to set the dlink to use encryption like WPA2 (wep is less secure) put in a passcode and then set up the ipad the same way.

Re: Adding a password to router
How do I set the dlink to use encryption. Where do I put a passcode in. Thanks.

Re: Adding a password to router
Read the manual for whichever Dlink you have especially the section on wireless security..
or you can tell us which Dlink you have and we'll point you too the correct section in the manual |
Re: Adding a password to router
Thanks. I have a DIR-615.
I've got into the Login screen using the IP address in manual, and it has options for using Internet Connection Setup Wizard or Manual Options. Given that I already have a working wireless connection, is it best to go for the manual option? Some items (such as type of internet connection) are already selected in this manual screen. If I press Save Settings here will it move on to another page that deals with password? |

Page 25 of the manual has full instructions as to setting up wireless and security |
