Superhub problem.

So I came onto these forums a few days ago and posted a problem with my speeds. Information can be found at this topic:

http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/12...b-problem.html

Anyways, a tech came out to adjust the power levels today, since he's been out, the speed hasn't got much better. I have a 50mb connection with a VM superhub. All these tests were taken within 30 seconds of each other.

Re: Superhub problem.

he didnt do a very good then as your power levels are too low.

whether thats the cause of your poor performance tho its doubtful but it still needs fixing.

Re: Superhub problem.

Pointless trying any other trouble shooting until power levels are within spec. (Logical progression and all that!:D).

Re: Superhub problem.

The Tech said that that's the best the power levels were going to get, he said everytime he tried to lower them, they just dropped. Whatever that means.

My speed test results are now getting only 1-2MBps. Is there is anything that could be done without involving the power?

---------- Post added at 16:08 ---------- Previous post was at 15:17 ----------

Yep, it seems to vary between 0.5-15MBps
Packed loss varys from 1-50%

Re: Superhub problem.

Power levels of -8.1 and -7.9 are way too low. You need to ring in again and get them sorted properly.

Optimal levels are:- Downstream -3dBmV - +7dBmV. Upstream Over 35dBmV and under 55dBmV.

Re: Superhub problem.

yeah and he told you he was trying to lower them? they need increasing.

Re: Superhub problem.

did he put any attenuators on the back of the superhub? if so you could try taking them off

As forward path attenuators are to reduce the downstream power levels it is doubtful, either that or an idiot tech!

idiot tech has already been identified, trying to lower the power levels :S

Depends which one!

Re: Superhub problem.

The levels were high to start off with, as shown in the topic posted in my first post. However he lowered them too much, so it seems.

Re: Superhub problem.

As above, nothing to do with the superhub, you have a tech to brain issue ..
