Router Advice

Hi All

Here's the situation:
speedtest.net wont load
Grabbit gives connection errors to VM news server
SABnzdb wont download from VM news server, but tests the connection as OK
I can ping news.virginmedia.com
Flash based websites are hit and miss

Have messed around and found if I loose the netgear WNR2000 and connect direct to the modem everything works OK.

Connected up an old dlink (DI-524) and everything works OK.

Flashed WNR2000 from netgear firmware to DD-WRT and problems remain.

Any suggestions? (Apart from the obvious 'Get a superhub' reply I've opened myself up to!!)

Cheers
Grim

Re: Router Advice

sounds like your router is blocking flash

have a look at the "access restriction" settings, could be in there

Have lloked at that - no joy. What's interesting is that with a fresh install of DD-WRT the problems remained, even before channging any settings.

Re: Router Advice

Either the router itself is faulty, or it is misconfigured. I'd suspect a port or two isn't properly opened through a firewall. Is something being overzealous scanning for virus / malware or checking that sites are valid.

I would look at the router and see if you can revert the firmware to manufacturer's standard, and then also do a reet to factory standards. If that doesn't get you anywhere then it may be time for the router to visit the local recycling centre.
