TiVo Masterplan

We know that VM want every TV customer in the near future to be on TiVo, but what in your opinions would be the timescale for the following events?

1. Hit V-HD boxes with the TiVo software.
2. Discontinue V+ boxes to new customers
3. All replacement boxes in the future will be TiVo enabled
4. Replace all boxes even if they are working with TiVo ones

I would love to know your opinions on this matter.

Re: TiVo Masterplan

all your options imply VM will need to drag people over to Tivo 'kicking and screamin'

maybe another option

5. Iron out all the wrinkles with Tivo so everyone 'wants' one

Well they had around 70,000 "interested" before any pricing was announced ;)

And V+ wasn't free to start with.

And if anyone thinks that they are welcome to not get the Tivo :)

I agree and have stated this loads on here about the TIVO charge , however I think its TIVO who impose this.

If it is a Tivo-imposed charge then I don't suppose it will ever come down or be scrapped. I'm sure that, in that case, VM will - eventually - start the usual incentives; like free install/activation - whenever they see fit. Just like they did with the V+

Also, don't forgot that Sky+ was, originally, £10 per month for all subscribers ;)

Was being the keyword , I think VM will dump TIVO software on the VHD box as the free option of TIVO software however this is just my opinion. It's interesting to note that Sky have just made the 1tb box 49.00 to new customers not sure on install. I think you are right I expect by Christmas VM will offer many incentives to take TIVO.

Re: TiVo Masterplan

I love my tech, but to me the barrier to TiVo is the £3 Sub, I know that sounds mean but it is another £3 out of the household budget specially with prices rising with inflation and wages staying static!

Interesting to see TiVo forcing the £3 sub, the fairer way would be the following pricing structure that there is with the old TV System

1. No Sub for non PVR TiVo boxes (Cisco, future box update)
2. Sub on TiVo PVR if not on TV XL package
3. Free to XL TiVo PVR customers

With the software bugs being ironed out over time and a fairer strcuture for TiVo, the will be no reaon for people Not to change to TiVo.

PS. The refuseniks then who don't want to upgrade in the future will go the same way of people trying to watch Anolgue TV in a couple of years with no service :erm:

My masterplan is to get another tivo for the other room in time and also the other masterplan is to get the legendary Muppetman to ditch his master and come over to the right side.:D:D;):D:D
