TiVo doesn't remember your place when watching recordings?

Hi,

Had TiVo installed today and am generally impressed, but the box has already crashed once requiring a hard reset, and I've come across a more annoying 'feature' this evening.

If you stop playing back a recording, it doesn't remember where you were and you have to fast forward through it from the beginning?!

Is my box broken or is this the correct behaviour? The menu obviously has an option to resume from where you were but the only choice appears to be 'beginning'!

No your box is not broken, the box will normally say resume playing if you stop a recording?

Can I just ask how are you stopping a recording?

Also when you go to play the programme again it gives me 2 options (resume playing or play from beginning).

The box could still be downloading all the data it needs so it could take a few days to settle in:D

Just trying to help you?

When it says resume playing just click OK.

If you press 'Play' when it's selected in the 'My Shows' list it automatically plays from where it left off - you don't need to go into any menu

Ah, now that is good to know, thanks! Does this also work for recordings you haven't starting watching yet, therefore starting them from the beginning?

Yup, and if you press 'Play' on a folder it will play the contents one after the other

Which is great except in the case of playing a collection it doesn't remember where it left off

Good to know. Cheers Ben!

I'll have to tell the misses. It means the torture of watching casualty and holby can be reduced by at least 3 seconds ;)

I found that menu confusing too. But useful when you know how. Like skipping forward in 10 and 30 minute steps while fast forwarding (to get around the lack of play from n minutes in).

Ben, is there a definitive list of all these hidden remote features and menu behaviours that gets updated with each release?

Boz

Maybe a bad example, but skip-to-tick is hidden in the user guide :)

I don't know of a full list of shortcuts such as the home-digit ones

My family could really do with a 1 page cheat sheet that lists all these shortcut buttons. They keep forgetting, and do things the long slow way (at which point I give in and grab the remote).
