Remote Control Question
Am I the only person who thinks the TIVO Remote Control has a mind of it's own? I put mine on the arm of the sofa or on the footstool and the stupid thing just ends up on the floor every time and I spend so much time trying to find the stupid thing
So now I keep reading about these Harmony Remotes and wonder if it's worth getting one of them and if so which one as there seem to be a variety of models  |

I've obviously got used to my harmony but i found the Tivo remote not very good for button positions etc, but i guess it could have been the other way around if i'd used the Tivo first. There are several new models out, but the one that seems to be the most popular is the Harmony One (I have one of those and an older 885 for the bedroom setup). Be aware that there aren't any hard coloured buttons on the harmony One, but they are there on the touch sensitive screen and work fine for me there. This could be a good place to browse to decide which one would be best for you. http://www.avforums.com/forums/remote-controls/ When I bought, I wated for the deals to come around on Amazon and the like because they're not cheap, but they seem to be discounted regularly, so if you can, it's a case of waiting for a good deal. |
Re: Remote Control Question
Thanks for that, I have seen the Harmony One in Curry's for £139, might get that and see how I get on with it :D

:D That's not the kind of 'shopping around' we were talking about on the other thread, unless you're suggesting that AlabasterLyn rings dixons up and threatens to take her custom elsewhere unles they sell it to her for £5! :D |

If you absolutely must have hard coloured buttons the Harmony 900 has them - but it's almost twice the cost of Harmony One:shocked: |

Play did a few limited time offers and sold it for £70; I always seemed to miss those and paid £84 from amazon just under two years ago. |

Don't really want to spend any more than I have to as I am saving up to get the latest Samsung tab thing when it comes out ;) Will the Harmony remote make my TV come on and change from HDMI1 to HDMI2 without me messing about with the TV remote I am currently using. You can tell I am not very good with technology. ---------- Post added at 15:31 ---------- Previous post was at 15:28 ---------- Quote:

Rather than being hard buttons, the coloured buttons on the Harmony One are on a touch screen, so you just touch the screen where the red icon is to activate a red button command. The Harmony uses 'activities'. You'll create an activity called Tivo (You can call it what you want) and by touching that on the touch screen, it will turn anything on required for that activity and switch it to the correct input, so, one touch, switches everything on. In my case, it switches my AV amp on and changes the input to Cab/sat, switches the TV on and changes the input to HDMI 1. I've told it i always leave Tivo on, so it leaves that as it is. On the harmony remote, the volume buttons control my amp and all the other buttons control the Tivo box or TV. I can tell the Harmony what buttons control which function on which device. It's all programmed by connecting the harmony to the PC via USB and following the instructions in the Harmony software. It will also act as just a remote control for each device, if you want it to, and you can switch between the two modes. |
Re: Remote Control Question
Richer Sounds have 2 left in stock, so I have reserved one :D
The 'fun' will start when I try to get the thing to work  |

You add the Tivo as a Cisco CT8685 There's a cable forum thread here: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/11...te-thread.html and the AV forums link I posted earlier has some Harmony experts on it. |
