Plans to outsource public services 'scaled back'

The government is scaling back plans to use the private sector to deliver public services, the BBC has learned.
Leaked documents suggest ministers have decided the "wholesale outsourcing" of public services to the private sector would be politically "unpalatable". Ministers instead want to use more charities, social enterprises and employee-owned "mutual" organisations.
Outsourcing was meant to be a key part of the government's drive to cut costs and reduce the UK's budget deficit.
Is it really possible for the coalition government to actually meet the targets they have set using mainly charities and the various enterprises?

Outsourcing will never work, it's impracticable to think that you can make staff redundant and then expect the private sector to re-hire them to fill in the gaps left in services. Pathetic, ridiculous and a dangerous strategy to even consider.

Conveniently leaked just before council Elections.

Realistically it was never ever going to work. Private sector want profits would never work on non profit/little profit margins basis. Lots of services could never make enough if at all any profit. The other thing why privatise something which makes councils money if theyre is sevices out there which do. Bit like the tories down the years privitising profitable state owned companies and just keeping the ones which make losses. Some which was privitised which was realised they cant make profits now get subsidised. You get wonder why they privitised in the first place. Then wonder why we dont make enough money some these companies could fattened government purse. Yes some was providing some profits.

Maybe there starting to realise private sector not interested and its CRIMINAL to force people to work for nothing on that pretence of big society.

That stupid big society rubbish where all its doing in areas is sacking paid workers trying to bring them back as basically slavery workers. Good example is that west midlands sacked few coppers because cuts only to give them letter to go back and work for nothing.

They talked of communal pubs/clubs but who would folk out utility bills etc if the pub companies shut them its was down to not profitable. who stumps up for the financial losses on failure.
