How??? I can understand how anything up to 20 being allowed on the road but cannot for the life of me understand how they get to 39 and aren't getting familiar with public transport. ---------- Post added at 15:29 ---------- Previous post was at 15:28 ---------- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-wiltshire-13277186 |

Yes I was looking at this and wondering what complete BS sob story they had come up with..So unfair on the rest of the driving population.

Re: Motorist has 39 points on license. Not banned from roads
Must be several BS sob stories to rack up that many! I'd love to see their insurance quotes, assuming of course no insurance isn't the main reason for the points.

39 points!! sod being banned, lock'em up for 6 months. They are obviously sticking two fingers up to the system.

Given a normal offence is 3 points, no insurance is 6 and something as serious as drunk in charge can get you 11 this motorist must really, really have a good lawyer or sympathetic judges. |

Re: Motorist has 39 points on license. Not banned from roads
a bit off topic, my half brother took his test today, his fifth attempt, and failed. the examiner terminated the test, my brother tolf him to f-off, and pay him £31, the examiner refused, he tolf him to f-off again, and walked home, leaving the examiner with the instructors car.
He is now banned from taking any further tests. He told me he wasnt bothered, after failing 5 times he said he doesnt want to take his test any more. I agree with him really, i havnt seen him drive myself, but he must be pretty bad, failing 5 times, and as he said himself, if he is that bad, theres no point him being on the road. I think people should have more sense, like my brother, if you are that bad, stop driving! 39 points must have been racked up either quickly, or over time, as someone has said above you can get 11 points for drink driving, but did someone not notice? when they got pulled over for whatever, did the police or the dvla not notice when they checked his record, when they were in court, was it not mentioned "oh by the way judge, bear in mind, he already has 32 points", whats the judge going to say "add 7 more, and dont do it again!" i think not, something somewhere, someone isnt doing their job |
Re: Motorist has 39 points on license. Not banned from roads
could be job related, I know judges will be hesitant to ban when doing so will adversely affect income.

I have my doubts that this is a real person.

Re: Motorist has 39 points on license. Not banned from roads
I wonder if any of these can be linked to DVLA cockups

Re: Motorist has 39 points on license. Not banned from roads
You see these people on any of the Police Camera Action type programmes and they continually flout the law and get fined and points added to their non existant licences for offences like noMOT, no TAX No Insurance and No licence so the points would add up to such a large amount.

Re: Motorist has 39 points on license. Not banned from roads
I was driving around with a licence which wasnt strictly legal for over about 2 years thanks to the DVLA.
When i moved out from parents i sent my licence to get the address changed to new address it came back with new address and that was that. When i moved again to a larger flat i had a call from the DVLA enquiring about the addresses firstly on my licence and where i was moving to. Turned out when i moved first of all although my licence had my new address printed on it their own systems hadnt been updated and i was still listed at my parents house. |
