Cervical cancer

I was going to post this in the Moans thread but its more than a moan.

My cousins wife has been told she has cervical cancer and shes only 35 :(.

So she has to have a full hysterectomy (everything must be removed.) I don't know at this time how bad it is but in the coming days/weeks we should know more.

My aunt was with here and my cousins wife burst in to tears saying "I can't die I've got two kids."

So my family is on hand to help look after her kids (3 & 6) if needed.

I say now to every woman here, GET YOURSELF CHECKED.

Re: Cervical cancer

Cervical cancer is becoming more and more common, and keeping on top of the dreaded smear tests is often the only time people find out.

I'm very sorry for your relative, but she is in the best place and advances in treatment means she is more likely than ever to survive. She is lucky to have had her children, I'm sure thats a comfort as I have a 24 year old friend who is the exact same position and won't have the opportunity for kiddies.

Keep positive and I'll keep everything crossed its treatable and she's back on her feet running after the little ones asap.

x

My thoughts are with your cousin and will be thinking of her. I use to avoid the smear until Jade Goody's story came out and I went and got it done. I really do owe a lot to her.

Keep us up to date Hom3 on how your cousin is doing :hugs:

And anyone with young daughters, please make sure they are vaccinated against the disease that causes cervical cancer.:tu:

That way we might make it a condition that affects as few women as is humanly possible in future generations.:)

Sorry to hear that sad news mate, will she be treated at Addenbrookes?
Please tell her from me that being told you have cancer is NOT an automatic death sentence.!!!!!! So many cancers nowadays are so treatable if they`ve been caught in time and the BIGGEST part of your treatment is your own ,positive attitude towards beating it. I know.;)
Give her a hug from me, I have a niece who`s a staff nurse at Addenbrookes and the treatment there is superb. ( I was`nt treated there) My best regards to her and her family mate.:)

Re: Cervical cancer

one of the reasons HPV( a major cause of cervical cancer) is on the rise is due to promiscuity and the fact its now acceptable to sleep around more.

Hope she gets well soon

Which is why it's a good idea to get our children vaccinated against it as well as regular check ups.Prevention has to be much better than a cure.

We lose too many to this condition.:(

Can't agree more, and from personal experience.

I lost someone very dear to me last year in November through lung cancer, incredibly difficult to watch and my thoughts/prayers go out to you and your cousins wife.

I hope they make a quick and full recovery.

Best,
Steve

I Feel for You and your Family, and I hope it all goes well for your cousin's wife.

My Mum bless her endured 8 weeks of radio and chemo therapy for stage 3 cervical cancer 2 years ago roughly now and at her last check up she is still in remission

All the Dr's and Nurse's do wonderful work

Sorry to hear the bad news. :(

I wish that she can make a full and speedy recovery.

Re: Cervical cancer

I had to fight to get my daughter vaccinated after her college was "accidentally" left off the round of visits. Very few of the other girls bothered to go for vaccinations though... it meant going to other places around the city was "too much hassle".

Hassle or Cancer... take your choice.....
