Doesn't really surprise me. Murdoch wants to control everything on TV; hence his campaigns against the one thing he can never get (direct) control of; the BBC.

Re: News Corp + Formula 1

Well it never worked on sky several years ago when they had partial screening rights so what makes him think he can do anything with the sport now?. As it is the sport (F1) for all the money thats in it is struggling because of the costs of being in the sport and running a team. He would more than want to make millions per year out of it himself so that would easily inflate the running costs beyond what even the well known established race winning teams could afford.

And for all those who love to watch F1 it is still pretty much a manority sport for the best part in most countries it's screened compared to the likes of football, cricket and whatever else is a national sport in any given country. F1 is nothing like a national sport in ANY country so there will always only ever be a limited demand viewer wise.

Oh no, that greedy arrogent back handing payoff for dodgy phone hacking scandal of a only doing it to get government permission to buy the rest of sky UK crackpot has another agenda as there are far, far more money making sports and media targets that would be worth far more to him. I think he's only looking at buying because it's a global presence sport and is trying to get a foot hold in other media companies that have deals to screen the sport. It's not about F1 but more about getting partial control over the likes of the BBC or ITV etc who would then have to pay him the money to screen it and therefor can impose conditions on what they have to do to get those screening rights.

Of cause he could never stop the existing teams leaving like they have threatened to do in the past and setup there own sport away from such controls as it's governing body.

Why dones'nt he just sod off and go and buy FIFA instead as not even he could make FIFA look any more dodgy and curupt than it is now!!!!!.
