DVD Recorder
I know I am a little late joining the party re: DVD Recorders but I would like to buy one so I can archive programmes from my V+. Can anyone recommend which one to go for?
I was going to go for a Toshiba but it seems it's a nightmare to set up for recording from an external source. TIA |
Re: DVD Recorder
I have a Panasonic, have had for years and have been happy with it. Mine had a hard drive as well, which is handy so you can edit out adverts etc.
Recording from external source should be more or less the same for all, set it to av1/av2 depending on which scart socket is connected to scart socket on V+ box and that's it. you can use the functionality on V+ box to output to recorder and follow the prompts. |

Re: DVD Recorder
Panasonic seem to be building the better ones at the moment. Have had one for years and they are pretty good at upscaling non-HD material (as long as you use an HDMI cable between tv and recorder).

Re: DVD Recorder
Cheers Guys! I shall go for Panasonic then - same as my TV.
I didn't think about the HD for editing adverts out. Good plan! ToTP on DVD, here I come!!! |
Re: DVD Recorder
Slightly off topic I know but can anyone confirm the archiving from TiVo to DVD situation for me? There have been many conflicting posts on this.
From what I understand the TiVo scart output can be used to send data to a DVD recorder but it can only be used during realtime playback on the TiVo, so in effect there is no 'archive' option like on the V+HD boxes? Correct? |
Re: DVD Recorder
Realtime playback has to be used anyway, it's just that the V+ has the option of doing this through the VCR scart while using the HDMI output for something else.
