I'm a newbie and I need you help :-)

Hello everyone,

I have just moved to the UK a few months ago and I recently bought a Samsung Virgin Vbox from a work colleague and I can't manage to get it set up in my bedroom.

I'm in a house share and the landlord already has a virgin telephone line and similar samsung Vbox connected to the TV in the living room.

The box is in the living room is connected to the Virgin modem via LNB cable. So i got a splitter and connected it to my vbox but i'm still not getting a signal.

any idea on what i need to do to get freeview channels?

Sorry to say but you've bought an expensive doorstop. Only boxes directly supplied by Virgin Media and paired with a viewing card and account will work

Yep, you've wasted your money. I hope you didn't pay much as it's stolen property.

No VM boxes are sold. They always remain the property of VM at all times.

Can't you get additional box from VM? It would be £5.60 per month on the multi-room and would get the same channels as the main box.

Installation charges may apply, but the account holder can enquire. Or get a freeview box if there is an aerial connection for terrestrial.

thank you for replying.. the box did come with a card, does that help? no account number though. when i called virgin they said it would cost £9.60 a month.. maybe they upped their prices.
i paid 25 pounds for the piece of ****.
i'm not sure if the guy screwed me over or if he's as ignorant as i am..

The box and the card will have been removed from the system. Is the modem on the same account as the lanlords TV.phone or on a seperate account? If the former then only he can ask VM for a 2nd box.
