V+ cutting recordings short

Hi All,
i have the Samsung V+ box, recently it started missing the beginning and the end of programmes. this is, as you can imagine, very annoying! i have it set to record 10min before and 10min after any programme as standard, but it seems to be doing the opposite!
i spoke to Virgin support last night and their response was "we need to format your drive" which i argued against as we have tons of recordings that we dont want to delete... and by the time we watch them, others would have been recorder.
my question is, anyone knows of a fix or been there or knows a way around this??? :erm:

Archive all the stuff you want to keep on VHS, DVD or DVR & perform a reformat of the box, its a pain & all, but mostly fixes it!
Could also try forcing the box to update, this *might* fix it!

Good luck anyways :)

It could merely be scheduling issues on particular channels and you need to add more padding.

The ex VMtv channels are sometimes not so hot now for startng at the right time. I have now changed the padding to 5 minutes when 2 minutes was previously (usually) suffice. ITV4's EPG data is often hopeless regarding start times.

Channel 4 in the evening is often a lost cause though, thankfully for a lot of shows we have catch up!

I suppose if you are at home put the channel on that you are recording and check if the EPG data is accurate (that it starts when or near to when it says). If it dosent you will need to either add padding or set manual records.

In answer to formatting the HDD I don't know the answer, sorry.
