Specifically for potholes (I have made loads of reports recently as the council can't seem to find them!)

THanks for those links. Pot holes drive me crazy.

Depends if the council have any money for pot holes of course. Ours has just squandered £12m on vamping up the town square with a water feature which can only be used in the summer, has caused cracking of the new pavings, and hasn't been used since last August after a couple of months on the go...

WIth the current roadworks in around Peterborough you can't get to see them anyway!!

Sounds as good as TFL streets (who maintain the A roads in my area). They spent thousands replacing the pavement on a street near us with a state of the art pavement with different textures near the traffic lights. It was all nice and flat (unlike the pavement it replaced) until three weeks later when they decided that (for the second time in a year) they needed to replace everything on the nearest junction (all the islands, traffic lights, signs and other equipment) and they decided to use the newly laid pavement as a parking place for all the heavy duty builders equipment.

Still a mechanism for reporting potholes before they turn into caverns is a good idea if the council responds promptly to the problem.

As I understand it, nowadays you can't sue the council for damage caused to your vehicle by a pothole unless they've been told about it. So anything that makes it easier to report them has got to be good.

Some people get round that technicality by claiming the damage was done by a pot hole they put a marker around awaiting repair :)

Always carry a can of spray marker like the council uses for road marking in the boot of your car ;)
