20 meg

Hi can any one confirm this as true I have heard that if you work for virgin or its partners and you have 20meg as part of your package which has in the last few weeks gone right down to 3meg I have been told they have dropped us all down to 10meg and we have to upgrade to 30meg at install cost £30 I mainly use for iplayer youtube and its just crap keeps buffering and even web surfing is like dial up never used to be like this my modem is a ambit 250 should still work on 20meg and has done in the past.

Re: 20 meg

Since 30meg came out my 20meg connection has gotten really slow during the evening. it's as if they are trying to almost force people onto 30meg.

Now why would they want to do that, they make more money off people on 20mb.

possibility is this.

you on overlay (to ease congestion on legacy in your area).

customers on legacy upgraded to 30mbit and get moved to overlay, now overlay congested.

or they could be prioritising 30mbit customers over 20mbit on performance, as is still back of my mind on 20mbit I was capped to 300kbit uploadish speed and this vanished when I upgraded to 30mbit on the same upstream channel.

So can 20Mb customers be on either legacy or overlay networks?

If so, what's an easy way to check which you're on?

Chrysalis 25-02-2011 23:48

Re: 20 meg

they can be on either.

qasdfdsaq 26-02-2011 02:02

Re: 20 meg

10mb users can technically be on either as well, but in most cases will be on legacy.
