Access Denied

Got a superhub and it wont connect to the network

Status says Access Denied

A tech is coming tomorrow because tech support say levels are to high on the upstream 58.7 on 50 meg is this correct?

Cheers

Re: Access Denied

uh, yes :)

afaik upstream shouldnt be above 48 and downstream should be as close to 0 as poss with +/- 6

Re: Access Denied

yeah but would it stop access to the network?

the level has been like that for the past week!

Re: Access Denied

It also sounds like it is in the walled garden due to the Access Denied message, but the upstream power level is also way to high.

Re: Access Denied

No upstream can be as high as 55db. Some areas where I work cannot achieve an us lower than 50. -3 to +7 is optimum levels for downstream

The upstream is that high i have a bosster box on it!

Re: Access Denied

You mean an attenuator, that actually lowers your signal, If it's a round one this will be causing you the issue. Virgin don't have boosters, the closest thing they have is an hdu which splits the signal 4 ways without loosing any signal.

No

I mean a booster that is connected to the mains

Your booster will have no effect on the modem signal levels.

What's it fOr then?

When they put it n they said it was to helP the power levels as the where to low!

Re: Access Denied

To increase power levels you need to be moved up in the cab.

Access denied message however is odd. I would suggest there is a provisioning issue there.

i had this exact scenario today. SH offline all night and in config status access : denied. phoned up and they had an engineer out within 2 hours and he fit a new attenuator which reduced the power levels from 53 to 48 db, he said tho that the original power levels was fine to begin with. anyway it worked.

If there is a cab, if he has an hdu He may be in telewest land

Looks like he swapped the fat attenuator for a forward path attenuator

It reduces attenuation which makes the downstream higher and the upstream lower

Well they are sending out a new hub as thy think mine is faulty! Worked fine after the engineer came round but the stopped again
