VMDG280 Wireless Router ???
Hello I am sorry if this is not the correct place to ask this question. A friend has just had a what I believe is one of these( VMDG280) but is unable to connect to it with their laptop with a b/g card. She called Virginmedia and they said it will only work with N mode so she can't use it.. I did have a quick look in the Router settings but could not see anything relating to bands. There is no setup instruction book for it and Virginmedia will not supply one Can anyone advise me where I can download a user manual for this Router. Many thanks John

Re: VMDG280 Wireless Router ???
Nonsense...
My laptop is only a G Wireless and it connects, granted though the signal quality is terrible, so maybe that's why... |
Re: VMDG280 Wireless Router ???
Hello Steven.. The laptop is only about 2 feet away from the router. The laptop can see the router but after inputting the wireless key it tries for about 1 minute and then does not connect, I have tried the same laptop at my home ( BT HUB ) and connects in a few seconds. Do you know if there is a BAND setting in the Virgin one as I could not see anything in the wireless section for BANDS B/G/N. I did check the wireless key and also generated a new one but had the same result. On the laptop I have tried all the various options of Infrastucture, etc John

Re: VMDG280 Wireless Router ???
Plug the laptop into the VMDG280 via ethernet cable temporarily to explore the settings in the modem. In 192.168.0.1 login with the user name & pass written on the side of the modem, Advanced Settings make sure its set to 2.4GHz mode and set to 54Mbps mode for B/G to eliminate the modem from the problem. Maybe you typed the key incorrectly, i use wpa2-psk(aes) with one password, thats all I can think of right now.
