super hub issues
I have just upgraded from a 10 Meg broadband to 30 Meg.. Thought excellent!! Nice fast Internet and game play for ps3
HOW WRONG WAS I!! I did have modem and router separate and played on ps3 no problem.. I now have supper hub and the wireless on it it just not good at all.fifa lags really bad!! What can I do??? Can I return the supper hub?? What has people done?? Also on the supper hub there's 3 lights one is blue at the top and the other two lights green? Is this normal??? The people in India are useless!! Sure they are there to stress me out! Can I use old modem and router and still get 30meg? I doubt the old equitment will support 30mg i don't know what to do! Any help would be v grateful cheers Andy |
re: super hub issues
Type 192.168.0.1 into your address bar then log into your superhub. Then click advanced settings, then on the left click services and untick IP FLOOD DETECTION and FIREWALL FEATURES I assume your pc has a firewall.
Then go to wireless settings and change your wireless channel, go for channel 11 or 12. These things MAY help/ |
re: super hub issues
I too have just upgraded to the 30mb and using the Superhub. Best thing to do is post on the Official Virgin Media forums. There are active Tech guys reading the posts and posting random help. Mine has settled quite a bit since the installation, but I still get random disconnects from the Hub and Wireless performance is no where near as good as my old set-up.

re: super hub issues
fifa is really bad playing on the hub.. marcus firewall ok to untick?
|
Re: super hub issues
Three lights as you have described them are normal.
Also, follow marcus's instructions and change 802.11 mode to 145Mb/s (if you have g wireless). It's ok to untick firewall if you have one on your pc/laptop. |
Re: super hub issues
what do u mean g wirless???do i need my old dongle back in pc?
just got windows firewall, and avast wirless band settings Wireless Band 2.4GHz (Recommended) 5GHz when i tick 5ghz light on wirless goes blue?? wont work how cums??? |
Re: super hub issues
5ghz is "n" wireless, 2.4ghz is "g" wireless.
|
Re: super hub issues
i dont get it cos its a supper hun and thought it was n wirless built in?
|
Re: super hub issues
Not true, though I'm guessing you got this from VM's support forums, on which Mark Wilkin's post about 2.4 vs 5Ghz is almost entirely incorrect.
5Ghz is 'a' and 'n' wireless. 2.4Ghz is 'b' 'g' and 'n' wireless. 'n' can run on either frequency, and technically any other frequency, as can 'a' and 'g' |

If what I suggested doesnt help then maybe try the official VM support forums as it has a gaming section. |
