Couiple of 'Superhub' questions

Been looking around the forums for a bit and found quite a few threads with nothing but grief about this device.

1) 100meg is definetely something I'm going for when it arrives here but Can't I keep my existing modem rather than get a Superhub. I'll only be using it wired anyway.

2) If I have no choice but to take it, What stupid gadgets are built in that I will need to disable to make it just a standard wired modem

Cheers.

The Spuerhub works just fine. Some suggest that reboots of the modem can be reduced by turning off the IP flood protection and firewall.

The 100Mb service will only work on the Superhub I believe, I can't be certain as I have no need for the service.

If you upgrade to 100Mb then you must have a Superhub as the is no alternative, do as Toto says above and it will be fine.

Later in the year the will be a firmware release for bridge mode which will give you the ability to just use it as a modem with the wireless switched off.

I am using a Superhub wired without any issues.

Wired is fine...
Wireless is terrible...

Just take a look at the VM Forums! It's flooded with Wireless issues...

My superhub is fantastic, great signal throughout the house hold connection no problem. I just wish it would let 2 games consoles connect at once without the NAT issuses.

There are reports (including on this site) that wired maxes out at only 300-400mbit, I have not confirmed this myself tho so look it up if an issue.

The routing issues will occur on wired or wireless (dmz failing etc.). But they dont affect everyone as I expect its the traffic pattern that will trigger the bug.

Flood protection turn off to stop performance issues with it on, it can even affect web browsing.
DHCP turn off if you want to use another router as an access point.
If you want to use another routing to do port forwarding then enable DMZ and point DMZ to the other router. This is optional and not needed if dont forward ports anywhere.

We shouldn't have to mess around with these settings like this, I never had to on my previous router, it's just nonsense. There are customers out there who don't have a clue, it must be very frustrating for them.
