Upgrade to 50mb
I've just recently upgraded to the 20mb service (start of Feb) and I took delivery of my free SuperHub & got everything set up nicely.
(Cost an extra £10/month for the upgrade). Now after only running for a couple of weeks I get the letter offering a free upgrade to 30mb or a upgrade to 50mb. Summarized as thus: up to 30mb, No extra monthly charge but a £30 activation fee up to 50mb, £5 extra per month. No activation fee, free installation (Requires a home visit). Both come with a free SuperHub. Called up today for 50mb & after a bit of discussion got offered it for only an extra £3.71 per with month with no activation fee & free installation. Happy days. What I don't get is why the need for a manned installation if I'm already up & running with my own SuperHub. (Having to take a half day off on Friday for it) m74uk |
Re: Upgrade to 50mb
No point at all, They should upgrade you and if you have an issue then a tech should be called

Re: Upgrade to 50mb
I would call back installations and ask if you really need one since you already have the SH. My 50meg is up and running without tech install. I had ordered an upgrade from 20 to 30meg, but cancelled and changed order to 50meg 2 days before the hub was to be posted. Manned install was booked for a few weeks' time, but the original hub still arrived (from the 30meg order). So I installed it, got it activated and they put me straight on 50meg then and there and cancelled the manned install.
So if you've already got it I don't see any reason to waste a tech's time if they can change it at their end, then send tech out if there's actually a problem. |
Re: Upgrade to 50mb
now come on, surely you arent stupid enough to think that you can connect a modem yourself? It's a hard job taking a modem round to someone's house and ringing a phone number but someone has got to do it and I gladly paid the sum of £40 for someone to do it because I knew I would crumble when faced with such a task.

Re: Upgrade to 50mb
I made the installers work for their money by making them run coax all the way through my flat, only to take it down again and put it somewhere else myself later :D
