V+ Box Rebooted last night
Has anyone had the issue of their box rebooting. My box rebooted last night at 10:38pm for no reason. It seems to do it periodically a couple of times a week. Not particularly annoying until last night when I was recording something.

Re: V+ Box Rebooted last night
I've had that a few times. Very annoying. Mine usually happens when watching a recording and also recodring a HD programme.
Didn't happen for me yesterday though when I watched a recorded programme whilst recording another HD programme. |
Re: V+ Box Rebooted last night
Happened to me as well Sharpy.I have older V+ Box & it has problems with hd channels.I have to make sure it is not on an hd channel whilst watching an hd recording or whilst recording 2 programmes simultaneously on hd.

Re: V+ Box Rebooted last night
My box rebooted twice tonight whilst I was watching Real Madrid Vs. Lyon. Luckily I didn't miss any goals however I was recording the boxing on Eurosport HD and the new Heston programme on Channel 4 HD at the same time. That's 3 lots of viewing ruined. This has been happening on and off now for months. Rebooting between 9pm and 10pm is simply no good. Also trying to watch anything on catch-up and on-demand between 12am and 2am is pretty much a no go.
Called Virgin who are sending an engineer this Saturday between 12pm and 4pm. What will the engineer be able to do other than replace my box? |
Re: V+ Box Rebooted last night
If the upstream is sky high the sa reboots otherwise swap is all that can be done

Re: V+ Box Rebooted last night
Well the engineer came today instead of tomorrow, at my request.
One of my tuners wasn't working, plus another had a high power level. The engineer fitted a little thing to the cable coming into the back of my box to help regulate the power levels then rebooted my box back to factory settings. Everything seems to be working fine now. Sorry for the lack of technical info, I didn't really understand what he was showing me via the diagnostics. I just nodded and smiled my way through it all. |

It's just ruined the main event of SKY's Saturday Fight Night for me. There's nothing worse than watching live sport, and your box cuts out. It's also just screwed up 2 movies I was recording for the Mrs. I called Virgin to explain the same problem is still happening. The guy on the other end asked if I could try rebooting the box? I lost the plot advising I won't be messing about rebooting the box. I advised I wouldn't accept anything other than a brand new V+ box. The engineer is coming on Monday with my new box. I'm usually a very chilled out guy but I've reached my limited. The box rebooted the other night when watching my team Rangers playing Sporting Lisbon. This is the third time since December I've had the box cutting out during live boxing. Access to live sport is probably the main reason why I have a TV subscription. At this stage I don't feel like I'm getting the service I'm paying for. Hopefully my new box will resolve the problem. |
Re: V+ Box Rebooted last night
TBH I was really surprised when I saw your post that the tech had played about with the box settings. I had similar issues (as well as a few others, but they started out the same as yours) and the tech just automatically brought a new box and swapped it without blinking.

Re: V+ Box Rebooted last night
I had the same problem box kept rebooting itself was very annoying, was a SA V+ box. Engineer swapped it for a Samsung box on Thursday.

Re: V+ Box Rebooted last night
I very much have to nurse my SA when recording HD channels and watching HD - it seems the box gets too hot or something, so I now have to make sure I don't watch an HD channel, or have it tuned into one if watching a recording, when doing an HD recording. It renders recording two HD channels nigh on impossible. The annoying thing is the reboots aren't consistent - sometimes it will reboot, others it won't. Can't seem to find rhyme nor reason as to its decision to switch off, but I bet it is heat related.
