Re: TiVo - 50,000 have registered Interest...
I've got no interest in taking TiVo, the only reason I'm registered is because of the raffle ticket thingy. I'll take anything for free!
As Masque suggests, I'm sure many of the 50,000 will loose interest as soon as they hear the up front fee. It's a product that people will want, but it's a hard sell during these tough financial times. TV is a luxury item, and is often the first thing to go when the purse strings are drawn. Give it 3 or 4 years and TiVo will be a hit for Virgin. |

I’m sure I’ve read this as a market trend before but it is a consequence of tougher financial times that people stop going out and sit in watching TV instead and want more home entertainment as a result, so Sky and VM actually see these as good times. Pay TV will certainly lose subscribers as well who drop back to Freeview, etc but the overall effect is improving subscriber numbers and increased revenue per subscriber for which I think VM announced yesterday a record figure for revenues per subscriber.
If we have now over 50,000 customers interested in Tivo, then even with people dropping out when the decision comes, it is going to take a longer time to fulfill all installs. Has Tivo become more successful than VM anticipated? A nice problem to have as long as VM get their act together to fulfill it and they haven't launched it to new customers/open market yet. Has anybody heard yet when VM will have Tivo installed in their shops so we can go and see it, if you haven't been lucky enough yet to receive the call. Patiently waiting to walk into the VM Nottingham store and see Tivo! |

Many of the VM stores have TiVo installed now.
