Speedtest.net ISP name

Today I upgraded from 20-to-30 meg, with the new SuperHub and the activation line (plus on the web after that).

I notice that today, Speedtest now tells me that my ISP is Virgin Media, until today it was Telewest Broadband.

Just wondering if this activation thing caused the change?

No the activation hasnt caused it. The reason it is like that now is part of the new network and getting rid of the old legacy network. So no more telewest, pure or ex c&w..There is now just one Virgin Media or will be..

Its because you are now connected to a different part of the network.

Speedtest bases your ISP by the registration info of the IP you are on.

Different MAC addresses will get you different IPs on the network.

Different modems have different IPs.

You'll definitely get a different IP when you switch modem, and may randomly get one any time you reboot your modem. It could just as easily go the other way round. It could just as well switch back to Telewest next time you restart your modem, it really doesn't matter.
