Essex businessman pays out over 'thief' sign

Quote:

A businessman who placed a sign saying "thief" around an employee and marched him to a police station has had to pay him £13,000.
Why is he so surprised? I know what to expect if I did anything as dumb as this.

I agree on both counts, this fool took the law into his own hands instead of relying on a rather well known body of men and women known as the police, he wanted to humiliate the guy and now its going to cost him.
You can bet your last pound that the Daily Hate will portray this guy as a victim, just like they did with Tony Martin.

As all the media seem to be ,but how he could justify beating ,tieing him up and throwing him into the back of a van i do not know

If we live in a world where everyone gets what they truly deserve, these Gutter Press Weasels should have been the first up against a wall.

Personally I think the sign was needed as you can see the police cautioned him that's how our justice system works steal 845 quid get a slap round the wrists!!!

So, the thief stole nearly £1000 & is let off with a caution, The employer humiliates the thief & has to pay him £13000??

You call this Justice........MY AR*E. I would have paraded him in his underpants too. This is the problem with so called justice, its non existent, its a joke.

The problem is that if we don't leave arresting people to the police we soon end up with vigilantes and respect for the law really then goes to the back burner.

We either respect the powers of the police or we get anarchy as righteous thugs take to the streets to 'administer' justice as they see fit.
If you want to be part of the system and arrest people then join the police and do your bit legitimately not decide you can do it better than the present law keepers do.

so what about the wages owed?,fair enough Gilbert should have gone through proper channels to recover them but reading between the lines this Cremer character doesn't sound like the type of bloke who is that reasonable(tying up ,beating and false imprisonment) and don't forget that Gilbert didn't actually steal anything

Mr Gilbert admitted the theft and received a police caution.

Quote:

But Mr Gilbert, 40, told a newspaper that he had been owed wages - a claim denied by Mr Cremer.
I believe I am owed money too, should I go out and take without asking? Isn't that what stealing is?

so you're ok being beaten ,tied up and thrown in the back of a van and then frog marched down a street without any trial ,like Maggie said we don't need any vigilanties quite often they get it wrong and innocent people suffer

no he admitted writing the cheque ,he didn't get any money as the staff at cash converters alerted Cremer when they became suspicious ,so he didn't get any money although granted the intent was there .I suspect he was cautioned because of that and the crime committed against him were as if Cremer had gone through the proper channels then Gilbert may have been charged with attempted fraud

I would have dealt with him , But i would have waited a few months first then paid a visit in the night when he was on his own.
