Gaming Issue With Super Hub
Hi all
Very cool site been a silent reader for long time last week I upgraded to 30 meg,and from that momment I have experienced lag spikes that will last 2- 7 secs.All games run fine that we tried but not World Of Warcraft.The Lag spikes happen every 2 - 3 mins.World Of Warcraft is the game played most at our home .Would say its a WOW issue but worked fine on last modem and my own router. I have turned IP flooding off and firewall Do u think its worth me going back to 20 meg ,I had no issues then Thanx for any advice and sorry if I missed threads about this I have had a good look for last few days found no answers |
Re: Gaming Issue With Super Hub
These are the only things that I have with a tick next to them under services in the superhub advanced settings;
Ipsec PassThrough Enable PPTP PassThrough Enable Multicast Enable Make sure you have forwarded the right ports TCP+UDP in the superhub for WOW as the forwarded ports in your old router are no longer active as your old router is no longer used. The 30Mb service has 3Mb upload in upgraded areas which is better for online multiplayer games than the 2Mb upload you get on the 20Mb service so i'd keep with the 30Mb. The superhub for me over my old setup added 2 miliseconds to my ping which isn't enough for me to complain. Make sure any software firewalls on your pc allow WOW and its ports used. |

Re: Gaming Issue With Super Hub
If your on an xbox/ps3 make sure UPnP is enabled in the console network settings and when the game is on you should see ports opened in the superhub settings under UPnP "UPnP Portmap Table"
http://192.168.0.1/Index.asp superhub settings page login with; name: admin password: changeme then go "Advanced Settings" then "UPnP" to check that UPnP is turned on then go "services" and make sure "Firewall Features" is unchecked & "IP Flood Detection" is unchecked. See if those settings do anything. |
Re: Gaming Issue With Super Hub
Lack of UPNP would not cause lag.

Re: Gaming Issue With Super Hub
games need upload bandwidth but I have not known them to need enough that 3mbit upload would be an improvement over 1mbit upload. What games really need is clean bandwidth that isnt been delayed by congestion and buffering.
a test on pingtest.net may give some clues. |
Re: Gaming Issue With Super Hub
i did a test on pingtest it come back as Grade A, i no my area has a high utillasation fault supposed to be fixed next week not holding my hopes up. it just so annoying
