Two horses die at newbury race meeting

can't see that really ,any buried cable would have to be armoured ,i'm thinking deliberate "knobbling"

Seemingly the ground was recently spiked to improve aeration of the grass.

they don't spike to a depth of 1/2 meter though derek ,i'm fairly certain that is depth burried cables must be as a minimum ,it is more likely ,if it was electrocution, that someone hasn't done their job correctly and allowed illegal power lines to be run

From what I read on the site is that the race course had some development recently, and the cable under the paddock wasn't supposed to be live, as it was unused

A racecourse spokeswoman confirmed a cable, thought to be dormant, had been found under the paddock.
Perhaps not as dormant as they thought.
