Top Gear Joke

What do you think about the Mexican student, who is suing the BBC (Top Gear) for £1,000,000 for the "racist remarks made on the program. It was in a passing reference made by Clarkson about a Mexican sports car. The Ambassador is also not amused by the reference to his countrymen as being lazy. Have we lost our sense of humour altogether, or more to the point have the PC "lets all be dogooders" forced their idiot opinion on us yet again!!!!!

Imo you have lost your sense of humour if you found that bit of the show even remotely funny and the only lazy thing was the writing, why no one in rehearsals said some thing I don't know.

Indeed. The lazy bugger should be told to do one.

it gets on my **** when people jump on the racist bandwagon, their usually just looking to stir things up on behalf of someone else that they have never met . there's to much of it about. there's a couple of cf members who jump on the race bandwagon at every opportunity, i think its pathetic as for the student get a job

I think he won't get very far - jokes based on national stereotypes are not racist, no matter how unfair they may appear to be. He has no legal basis for suing the BBC or anyone else.

Important to make the distinction between the Mexican ambassador complaining to the BBC and a individual making an opportunistic attempt to sue the BBC. Lumping them in together in unfair on the original complaint.

There don't seem to be any pictures of the student suing for the mil. Probably because the first time they tried to reach her she was still enjoying her siesta and the second she was on the phone arranging for her moustache to be waxed.

Re: Top Gear Joke

There was a remark on the USA version of topgear about the British being liars (in reference to the speedo's on Aston Martins going up to 200mph when the cars don't get that far) but nobody complained about that...

The Mexicans need to get off of their high-horses and just accept it for what it was, a little bit of the humour of Topgear, whether you find it funny or not. Its just a stereotype, I bet even the Mexicans have them between themselves...

I just think the ambassador was being a bit quick off the mark to have a go.

I guess we can add "no sense of humour" to the mexican stereotype now eh?

Perhaps the BBC should sue this guy for £2m for bringing their name into disrepute..... :D

Seriously, I found the Mexican gags quite distasteful but let's face it, Clarkson et al spend much of their time on air being disrespectful to Yanks, Australians, Spaniards, French, Romanians, caravanners, fat blokes, eco warriors etc. etc. etc. Not sure why this latest example has caused such a stir....
