DVDs on Media Centre PCs

I have a Media Centre 2005 Laptop, which I used to be able to play DVDs ripped to a HDD (via DVDShrink).

When I ran Media Centre and went to DVD if the HDD was plugged in it would find the DVD folders and enable me to play them, but following a system rebuild I cannot remember what I did to the PC to get this function to work.
At the moment the VOB files are assigned to cyberlink powerDVD

I think I had to download a add-on to MP11 which did this, but cannot remember it name but I beleive it contained codecs.

Well I downloaded the k-lite pack and the ripped DVD plays in Media Player 11, but if I go into Media Centre and I click on DVD it says that no DVD is selected, so I guess that a check dox or some thing hasn't been checked in MCE.

Maybe it's looking for an actual DVD drive?
