New 100mb service & router/modem

I recently replaced the Netgear router that Virgin supplied when I signed up for the 50mb service 18 months ago - I now have a Netgear WNDR3700, which is working extremely well.
I understand that I will soon be able to upgrade to the 100mb service, as part of which I have read that Virgin supply a combined router/modem.
I am reluctant to abandon the WNDR3700 (although I do not know how good the new combined router/modem would be), so my question is, would my existing Virgin modem and separate WNDR3700 router still be usable with the 100mb service, or is the new combined router/modem required for the 100mb service to work?
Thanks.:dunce:

You would get the new superhub as part of the 100 mb install. I have it on 50mb and its a great bit of kit.

They will be releasing an update so you can turn it into a modem only and connect your own router but there is no date for it yet.

Thanks for that Stephen.
I just checked the Virgin 100mb roll-out schedule - as of 13 January 2011 my location is under the heading of "being planned" (the joys of living in London!), so by the time Branson's boys get round here the update will hopefully be available.
I also just read that the superhub can run both 2.4 & 5.5 GHZ, but not concurrently. That is a real pain for me, as I have several devices that can/do use 5.0 GHZ, but my range extender (for other devices around the house) is restricted to 2.4GHZ. So I really do need the flexibility to use the WNDR3700 as it enables me to run both speeds at the same time.

You can still use your existing router with the Superhub. You do not need to wait for the firmware update (bridge mode) to do it. You'll just have to put up with a second NAT in the way or use it in AP-(wireless)-only mode.

As for Branson's boys, last I knew Branson didn't run VM. VM is just the same old ntl:Telewest run by the same people, all they did is buy out a MVNO then rent the name "Virgin" for 30 years.
