I personally wouldn't use that type of software, to speed up your PC just do the following
Run a full anti virus scan
Run a full spyware scan
clear internet cache
use ccleaner (run once a week)
defrag your hard disk
uninstall old software

regards,

If you have either Windows Vista or the newer Windows 7 there is an online tool from Microsoft I use once a month which does the trick for me it's available at http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm run a full scan option, sit back and relax.

As above but include a disk cleanup and also get rid of some of the older restore points.

On top of this, goto start, run, type services.msc and set to manual anything you will not use. Also, goto start run, type msconfig, choose start-up tab and un-check anything u do not want to load at start-up.

I agree, unless you have the experience, messing with servives is not something you should be doing, you may make your PC unbootable or unstable.

Might be better to start with the basics. has your PC ever been faster than it is now? What ate it's specs ie CPU speed, amount of memory?

Check out this guys tutorials, they're dead easy to follow if you're not confident in doing it yourself...

If you're a bit unsure about what programs boot on startup and may be slowing down your pc there's this great little tool

http://www.soluto.com/

Very easy to use interface, it puts the various things on start up into 3 sections, then gives you the option to delay the start, or not run unless you run the program it relates to.

It certainly helps reduce the boot time and might be worth a look.
