Scientific Atlanta 2100 modems not compatible with upload speed upgrade?

Had a 2100 modem which was refusing to accept the upload speed upgrade from 0.5 to 1mb. Called VM a couple of days back who got back to me saying it was an issue with the SA modems and they'd send me a new modem. Got it through today, got it activated in minutes and got the 1mb upload at the first try.

Might be worth giving VM a try if your area has had the upgrade and it's not working for you, and you have a SA modem.

Do you still have the Scientific Atlanta EPC2100 if so what is the exact model number on the back as that modem should be more than capable of running those speeds as they are still being issued.

I'm having the same problem. I'm in Bradford, which in theory has been upgraded but still can't access higher upload speeds. I have a Scientific Atlanta EPC2100R2 - if that makes any difference to anyone. Any help would be appreciated :)

EPC2100R2 should be just fine - it's a fully certified DOCSIS 2 modem.

Maybe some foible of VM's systems.

Thanks for the info. Does anyone know if there is a trick to getting it to work, a number to call to activate it or are some boxes just not capable? I've tried unplugging & resetting the unit - but the speeds stubbornly remain the same as ever.

I'm not sure what you need to see, but here's what info I see from that link:

Does that help?

The third one still shows 512kb upload and that modem is more than capable of supporting a 20Mb 2Mb upload.

VM have chosen to not uplift that modem in your area by the looks, nothing more interesting than that.

You'll need a new modem.

OK - thanks for your responses. I have ordered an upgrade to the 30Mb package and a new router is en route, was just hoping I could speed up my uploads in the meantime. Thanks again for your help :)

The EPC2100 should be fine for the upload as my sister in law has one with a 2Mb upload on 20Mb, maybe your area has not been done as yet.

Once you get the Superhub we will see as you will either get a 1Mb upload or a 3Mb upload.

Re: Scientific Atlanta 2100 modems not compatible with upload speed upgrade?

I thought my area (Bradford) had been done, but was just basing that on this document:

http://shop.virginmedia.com/content/...hedule2012.pdf

I have no idea how accurate the info on that list is, but as I'm in Bradford and it says that the faster service should be "Available Now" in Bradford, I just assumed that the upload speed would have been upgraded.

Oh well, even if we haven't been upgraded here yet, at least the new hub should make uploading photos less painful. Thanks :)

Well it should be available now as you are connected to a Bradford uBR.

At least it should work with your Superhub.
