Catch Up - another moan

I can't see what the point of this service is when it doesn't let you catch up.

The two big ones for me on Christmas Day were Doctor Who and the Royle Family. I was out so didn't record them and hoped to be able to catch up. However, neither of these progs are on catch up. I don't expect them to become available minutes after transmission but it has been 5 days now - surely enough time for someone to press a button, or flick a switch, or whatever it is they do.

It seems that if I really, really, want to watch something I've got to watch or record it at the time. The catch up is too unreliable (re my previous thread about Miranda).

I've just checked - both those programs are currently available 'on demand' ????

There was a slight delay from the BBC getting those assets loaded. Should be up there now.

It's automated, but faults can happen.

let me know if it's still missing, thanks

Well they weren't when I checked this morning..but it was available online at the BBC iPlayer website.

As someone said it's not good enough. They were quick enough to put the Dr Who confidential shown on Christmas Day on demand though which did seem rather stupid..

I have to say that the on demand does seem hit and miss and I usually find myself resorting to watching online rather than using Virgin's on demand at times because of the irregularities.

It's probable there was a failure in the upload from the BBC to Virgin for the programme which is why it didn't appear.

The BBC would have resent the programming over today, so it then appeared

Of course sometimes the reason things don't show is down to rights.

Amazing how much of the tatty offerings made it to on demand with no problem though.:erm:

It's nothing more than a file copy error, I doubt the computer gremlin that caused it has a taste in what to stop transferring

This is correct Ben. There is an open ticket on everyones Status Page too. There has been a problem over xmas with BBC content coming over to VM. VM and the BBC have been working on fixing the problem over the last few days. This caused a delay in some content, namely Royal Family, Doctor Who etc.

Ticket remains open while the issue is fully investigated.
