Ping levels
I am in the process of moving the computer downstairs therefore have installed a long ethernet cable so the modem can stay in it's current position for now.
After carrying out a speedtest i get 50meg down and 4meg up so no problem there but the Ping has risen considerably, normally around 15ms but now 45ms on this long cable. Is this normal. My ethernet cable is about 40ft long if this helps. |

I get 1-2ms on my wireless router so I am very surprised it was anywhere near 15ms to start with. Try ping 127.0.0.1 and post back what you get. It should rule out hardware issues. http://www.tech-faq.com/127-0-0-1.html for a detailed explanation. |
Re: Ping levels
I am using pingtest.net
Also during the pingtest it fails to complete the packet loss section for some reason. I was going to post the results but for some reason www.pingtest.net has a problem, something to do with an expired licence !!![COLOR="Silver"] |
