I'm sure that lead won't work.

Your Video card must support digital signal output through VGA port function.
The cheap, low quality, option is a SCART to phono lead
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=28102

There are plenty of more expensive options, such as http://www.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?...C=SO&U=Strat15
or http://www.cyberselect.co.uk/product/61

Or you may be better cutting your losses and getting a HD projector.

That's sending the signal in the other direction, VGA output to HDMI input, which is what that cable is designed for.

It's 800x480, so not even full SD.

A cable won't do it. HDMI is a digital signal, your projector's VGA is analogue. You'd need some electronics to do the conversion.

I thought this but on the description it reads "HDMI VGA RCA Adapter Cable works with any analog component input device such as projectors, HDTVs, etc."- does this not apply to my Projector? I confess that I am confused and really appreciate your advice.

Agreed:) So you need one of these. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...wtilt247com-21 plus a cable.

Website here; http://hdmi-to-vga.co.uk/

At £100+ its not cheap, but with such a low res projector I'm not sure how well it would work anyway.:(
