Temp replacement Power pack safe?
Hi,
My Dell 15 series laptop power pack seems to have died, I tried changing the fuse to no avail :-( By chance my daughter has an older model Dell laptop, I checked the power ratings, output etc on her power pack and it all matched. Would you say its safe to use? Whilst the 'brick' itself is a different shape, the adapter head is identical and seems to fit just fine. Just my luck that it would go 'pop' on Christmas Eve, further more my new Sanyo Xacti HD camera didnt arrive today OH and niether did the wifes Christmas present! Yay for Christmas 2010! :td: lol |
Re: Temp replacement Power pack safe?
you can buy universal power supplies normally output around 19/20 volts. TBH ive never had an issue using different chargers in laptops as long as the outputs match. Dont blame me if there is something wrong with the spare and it goes bang lol

Doublecheck the polarity indicators, make sure pos/neg are the same on both units.
