Bookmarks Checker

Hi,

I've found a Forefox add-on called CheckPlaces which goes through your bookmarks in order to find sites that no longer exist.

Problem is that it looks at say http://www.cableforum.co.uk/index.html and finds that the absolute page does not exist but obviously http://www.cableforum.co.uk does.

Are there any good tools which will weed these out and give correct results?

If you click this link you will find the companion tool to CheckPlaces which is supposed to do the things that you want.

I downloaded the BookmarksChecker and then the link checker and it worked but I do have Nightly Tester Tools in my browser which should not work with the latest version of Firefox but because it was already installed it works.:)

I also have Xmarks installed which allows all my bookmarks to be saved in the cloud and i can then download them onto any computer which is handy if you have a specific tool in your bookmarks that you need to use at another address.

Paul: I was using this as an example - I could have said something like:

http://www.fredbloggsrules.com/welcome.htm

I don't have a bookmark for CF like that - it was an example - sorry for the confusion!

BTW - I have over 3000+ bookmarks and I'm trying to clear out all the dead pages. Some of the sites may exist but the I may have direct url to a page at the time which has since been removed. That's what I'm trying to get rid of.
