Best back up software for Windows 7?
Hey all,
I have just purchased a 4TB RAID 0 drive which I intend to use to back up all my information from my main PC. My question is which is the best esata supported back up program, I only have a few requirements: 1) It needs to only back up the new information (once the intial back up is done) 2) It needs to periodically back itself up automatically 3) Support esata 4) Preferably be free or cheap 5) Work with Windows 7 64bit and a GPT raid drive Look forward to your recommendations Thanks ;) |

How about this..
'Automatically backup files, directories, even entire drives! Karen's Replicator copies selected files from one drive/folder to another. Source and Destination folders can reside anywhere on your network. Options include repeated copies at intervals as short as a few minutes, or as long as several months, copy only files that have changed, and the replication of folder and file deletions.' http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptreplicator.asp I know it works on 7 64 as I have it. |

Doesn't the Windows 7 built in back up software work for it cause that does all what you need it to

I use SyncBack SE which syncs all the data on my main PC to my NAS - changed files, new files, deleted files, the lot!

Re: Best back up software for Windows 7?
I use Microsoft's Synctoy but I don't know if it works with W7. Does full backups or incremental ones. It doesn't have its own time settings but you can run it in the background using Scheduled Tasks (if W7 has it).

I also use synctoy. does what I need brilliantly. I used to use a batch file I did that used xcopy. does the same thing, but synctoy is quicker and easier to change about due to the GUI.

Re: Best back up software for Windows 7?
I use Handy Backup, it's a reliable backup software for Windows 7. It allows backing up Windows 7 registry, files, folders, documents and other data. I have used several backup programs for years, and I recommend Handy Backup.
Hope it will work for you too. |
Re: Best back up software for Windows 7?
hoping you guys can help, ive been using synctoy for a little while now, and although it seems to work well im having a problem.
Im backing up two hard drives onto the back up drive, the problem is the first drive backs up fine, then the second drive backs up and then synctoy transfers the files from the external back up drive onto the first backed up drive and then the second backed up drive, so effectively I have three copies of the same information on the three drives (not what I wanted) Any ideas? Thanks |
Re: Best back up software for Windows 7?
I just been trialling synctoy. I find it does not echo deleted folders so your backups get bigger and bigger over time.
I've found Memeo backup software to be junk. Numerous problems but overall is the worst backup software I have tried. And it is far from free. |
Re: Best back up software for Windows 7?
I never bother with these incremental backups. In the past ive had them break the main backup making it a waste of time. Chances are its fixed now but I take a full system back up monthly deleting the previous and saving a master with a clean install then any docs I need I just save anyway to a different drive and the cloud
